Random person: Is your name liberty? *looking at my wrist*
Me: Uh, no.
1) Liberty is a word. People should know that for Pete’s sake!
2) Why would I put my name on my body? Am I going to forget my name? Do I really need a reminder?
This conversation happened for four times already. What’s wrong with you guys?
when it was still fresh and stinging like crazy
I’ve always wanted to have a tattoo inked on my skin. I want to express myself through art which I can carry wherever I go. For starters, I wanted to settle on something small and simple first. Of course, a lot of ideas popped in my mind on what design I should choose. But come on, face the reality; you’ll never know when you’re going to feel regretful. I was supposed to get “I will live in liberty or not live at all” but its price is thrice the one I’ve got. The money I spent on this one was straight from my pocket.
So why ‘liberty’? This is the word I want to live for. Liberty is the power of choosing, thinking, and acting for oneself; freedom from control or restriction. It has something to do with free will and responsibility. I’m the type of person who doesn’t want to be controlled just to live up to the expectations or ideals of others. This is I and I’m responsible for everything I do. I may not flow where the wind guides me, I won’t become still waters.
I really think a tattoo should be meaningful enough before putting it permanently on your skin. What I did was not a show-off but purely self-pleasure. I’ll be getting another but not too soon.
I got my first permanent tattoo today! I felt pain but it was surely bearable. I’ll post another entry about it soon. :D
